High Mountain Yak 2-ply light fingering handspun

This high-mountain yak yarn is sustainably sourced from Mongolian yaks that live at 1500m altitude, providing a fiber for very warm and incredibly soft yarn. This fiber is the yak's undercoat, called 'kullu', in winter, and if not combed out by hand, will naturally shed in the spring. The fiber strength is similar to cashmere, which gives the yarn its incredible softness.

Nomadic herders who look after the animals select the finest fibers, which are washed and carded before being hand-spun by skilled home spinners in Nepal. Just take a look at the square label when you receive the yarn to see who spun it.

Our yarns are hand dyed by qualified dyers using ZDHC dyes.
