This is the lace weight, single-ply version of Loch Lomond, our ever-popular traditional English tweed yarn. It has the same tweedy look, but is even a bit softer than the heavier weight version. The incomparable loveliness of woollen yarn really comes into its own here.
Loch Lomond Lace is a woollen spun yarn which makes it rustic and voluminous with generous yardage. Finished garments will be both lighter and warmer due to the pockets of air trapped in the yarn. Woollen spun yarn is spun differently than worsted yarn and tends to bloom after washing and blocking. Being a single-ply woollen spun yarn makes Loch Lomond Lace more delicate so one should not knit too tightly with it or the yarn may tear.
This wonderful yarn can be used either alone or with others such as our Babyalpaca 10/2 or Silky Kid mohair. The possibilites of combining are endless due to its fine lace weight.
Loch Lomond Lace is GOTS-certified which means that everything throughout the entire supply chain is produced according to strict ecological and environmental standards. From raising the sheep to fnished yarn, every step along the entire journey is checked and certified.
The raw wool for Loch Lomond Lace comes from mulesing-free farms in South America. It is then spun and dyed in Turkey.
GOTS Organic certified by BCS 25956.
